The Institute for Studies of the Recent Past is nominated by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and Plovdiv Municipality for the prestigious book award in honour of Hristo G. Danov – founder of the Bulgaria’s first publishing house in 1855 in Plovdiv.
The Institute is nominated in the Humanities category for its collective volume “History of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria. Regime and Society“.
The National “Hristo G. Danov” Award was founded in 1999 during the European Month of Culture that took place in Plovdiv. It is annual award for contribution to national literary culture for the past year. The awards are defined after a contest, and are presented at an official ceremony in the Old Town.
